Marquee Benefits, LLC (MB) was organized in 2005 as a Minnesota limited liability company. MB is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marquee Financial Group, LLC (MFG). MB acts as an agent for fund managers representing institutional investors in buying or selling life insurance policies and portfolios. Marquee has analyzed over $27 billion in face value of life settlement policies and advised clients on the acquisition of over $2 billion in face value of life settlement policies. MB does not acquire life settlement policies for its own account.

Marquee Fiduciary Advisors, LLC (MFA) is also a wholly owned subsidiary of Marquee Financial Group, LLC (MFG). MFA was organized in 2006 as a Minnesota limited liability company. MFA has serviced over $600 million in face value for its clients. Using a suite of proprietary life insurance policy analysis tools, MFA is able to assess a portfolio in terms of financial values, construct appropriate cash flows and future secondary market valuations and create an objective risk/return scenario for prospective purchasers of portfolios of life insurance policies. Clients have used these services to solidify a trade and in some instances to provide detailed, objective data to lenders as part of a loan collateralization using a portfolio of life insurance policies to support a project.

The two principals of Marquee Financial Group are Kevin R. DeVaan and James J. Ward. The General Counsel is Stephen A. Bard.

James J. Ward, J.D. CFP is COO and the other principal of Marquee Financial Group, LLC and its wholly owned subsidiaries Marquee Benefits, LLC and Marquee Fiduciary Advisors, LLC.  Mr. Ward is responsible for the oversight of the portfolio management of life insurance policies on behalf of institutional investors. He has developed the processes and systems used to minimize the risks of owning life insurance while maximizing portfolio returns. Mr. Ward advises hedge funds, pension plans, charitable foundations, and private equity funds in constructing life insurance portfolios to meet the investment objectives of the client.  Mr. Ward has over 25 years experience in advising financial institutions on designing and implementing a prudent process for managing investment portfolios to meet fiduciary duties. An attorney since 1981, Mr. Ward has an accounting degree from St. John's University, a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, and the certified financial planner (CFP) designation from the College for Financial Planning. In the late 1990s, Mr. Ward began developing the processes and systems to manage large portfolios of life insurance policies. A proprietary process for managing trust owned life insurance was developed as well as software called ILIT Analyzer that allows trustees to benchmark life insurance policies against industry indexes.

Mr. Ward further developed the analytics of ILIT Analyzer into a life insurance portfolio management system for institutional investors which is now called MarqueeStar. Institutional investors are provided web-based access through MarqueeStar to performance reporting, current values, transaction history, and cash flow projections on their life insurance portfolio. Marquee Fiduciary Advisors is the only firm that provides monthly policy market values using a "mark-to-market" methodology that complies with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). Mr. Ward manages the process of determining how life insurance policies are performing in a portfolio, identifies and then recommends the sale of, and where appropriate, the replacement of under-performing life insurance policies to maximize portfolio returns.
